The World Harp Congress in Sydney, Australia is offering harpists the chance to work with Grammy-Nominated composer Deborah Henson-Conant, and premiere soloist Eleanor Turner on the piece that harpists all over the world are using to wow audiences:

 

The fiery showstopper "Baroque Flamenco."

 

Baroque Flamenco can be played as a solo work or as a concerto - and NOW thanks to CAMAC Harps & the World Harp Congress, Henson-Conant is releasing it as a Chamber Ensemble tour-de-force -- and YOU can rehearse with the WHC Chamber Ensemble in a special masterclass by with composer Deborah Henson-Conant and master soloist Eleanor Turner. 

 

Winners of the audition will take part in the special masterclass AND have the opportunity to play the piece under Henson-Conant's

conductor's baton the following day, with the 8-piece WHC chamber ensemble and our featured soloist, Eleanor Turner.

Can I just watch?

Yes, anyone registered for the "World Harp Congress" can attend the masterclass as an auditor - only participants must audition.

Who Can Apply? And how?

Any harpist attending the WHC in Sydney is eligible to apply.  To apply you need to submit an audio recording of the cadenza of the advanced version of Henson-Conant's "Baroque Flamenco." We'll be posting more information soon, so for now, please just fill out this form to let us know you're interested and we'll send you more info just as soon as it's available.

 

Apply To Play in an Exclusive Hands-On Coaching Experience

This is not JUST a harp-playing workshop – it will challenge and change you as an artist!

  • 4 pedal-harpists will be selected to play: Any age, student or professional, can apply.

  • The masterclass will focus on the cadenza, but the successful applicants should prepare the whole piece so they can play with the chamber ensemble during the masterclass. The cadenza must be from memory by July 24th.

  • Recording and application to be submitted by midnight 23rd April 2014. Participants will be informed of the result by 8th May 2014.

  • The workshop WILL cover the specific techniques used in the piece, however…like we said about ... this is not JUST a harp-playing workshop – it will challenge and change you as an artist!

  • Winners receive a signed copy of the new ‘Baroque Flamenco’ Chamber Music score from Deborah Henson-Conant , a one-time license for orchestral performance and a download of score & parts to play “Baroque Flamenco” with full orchestra.

  • 75-minute workshop will be videotaped.

  • Participants may be invited to join the concert performance on 24th July.
